The Opportunity:

One of our retail clients in the Waterloo region is looking to hire an Analytics Data Specialist with 10+ years of analytics/BI experience for a full-time permanent opportunity on their team

Analytics Data Specialist

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Responsible to the Manager, Analytics to champion Analytics data moving including Extraction, Transform and Load (ETL) data movement best practices as well as short/long term strategies with a result of providing corporate ROI.
  • Align to and support the Data Governance strategies and policies and Master Data Management (MDM) strategies
  • Assist in design and data maintenance of the Data Warehouse (DW), Data Marts (DM), and other Data Stores
  • Support Analytics change management across the corporation
  • Support Analytics interaction with 3rd parties and services as it relates to data driven activities and related tools
  • Identify backup/archive strategies
  • Ensuring daily/weekly/monthly operational activities are completed and troubleshooting when required
  • Designing and building scalable, high performing business centric data models
  • Extending the company’s cloud data warehouse with internal and third-party sources of information when needed
  • Designing processes to automate the throughput of data from source to report
  • Processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis

What You’ll Need to be Successful:

  • University / College degree in Information Technology
  • 10+ years’ experience as an Analytics/BI Data Specialist
  • Experience with cloud Platform-as-a-service: Azure preferred
  • Strong experience in at least one programming language (i.e. C#, Python, R).
  • Strong experience in any database technology (SQL Server / Azure DB), PowerShell scripting and ETL/ELT (i.e. SSIS)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication as well as technical skills including attention to detail
  • Understanding of Information Technology concepts, standards, procedures and policies including in-depth knowledge of requirement analysis and modeling tools and techniques
  • Proven experience with waterfall, iterative waterfall
  • Proven track record for meeting strict deadlines
  • Results oriented with a focus on quality. Creative thinker with the ability to see the big picture.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational and time-management skills
  • Experience working on small, medium to large business/system projects meeting time and quality targets/standards
  • Confidently able to interact with senior-level management
  • Ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities
